About

Why this exists

The life you are living today does not have to be the life you live forever. Income can grow, skills can improve, options can widen. But none of that happens just because you want it to.

A better life is not something you wait for. It is something you build.

Earn Better Living is for people who want more from life. Not only more money but more freedom, more choices and more control over their own time. It is for people willing to learn, question, work and adjust. Wanting a better life is the beginning. Learning how to build one is the real work.

Who is writing this

I’m Mehmet. I’m a lawyer in Istanbul and a managing partner at my own law firm working on corporate, intellectual property, IT and employment law, and I’m a certified trademark attorney. Outside the office, I build mobile apps and write fiction.

I ranked 78th among 1,987,488 candidates in Turkey’s national university entrance exam, and I later graduated from both my bachelor’s and master’s programs with honors. I don’t mention this to impress anyone. A rank is only a result. What interests me is the method behind it: how you organise your time, keep going when progress is invisible and prepare for something that matters. That is exactly what this site is about and I will write about how I approached it, including what worked and what didn’t. None of it guarantees a result for anyone else, but a method can be shared.

I am not a financial advisor and I have no secret formula. What I have is a habit of reading contracts, questioning claims and asking what a decision actually costs. I bring that habit to a subject where people are often sold shortcuts: work, careers, income and the life you build with what you earn.

This is an independent site, written by one person. I will separate facts from opinions, show sources for important claims and say which country and which year a piece of information applies to. Nothing here is financial, legal, tax or medical advice, and nothing here promises a particular result.

What I believe

1. Change the way you work.
Motivation comes and goes. What matters is whether you keep moving when progress is slow and invisible. I believe in discipline, consistency and curiosity. But not in being busy for the sake of it. Learn to finish what you start and to become someone you can rely on.

2. Learn how the world works.
Hard work without direction can keep you busy for years. Markets change, industries transform and not every profession or business model is rewarded equally. You don’t need to predict the future. You need to understand your options well enough to choose deliberately because a career is one of the biggest economic decisions you will make.

3. Never depend on a single path.
A salary gives stability, but income that depends entirely on your hours has a natural ceiling. Digital products, licensing, investments and small businesses can each add something and each one has costs and risks. There is no universal formula. There are models to study, risks to understand and opportunities to evaluate.

4. Become capable of handling your success.
A higher income cannot fix poor decisions, fragile health or an inability to handle uncertainty. Financial literacy, legal awareness, communication, health and clear thinking are all part of earning well. The goal is not just to reach success, but to be able to sustain it.

5. Let money create possibilities.
Money can buy freedom: leaving a job that doesn’t suit you, time with people you love, a place that fits you, an interest you couldn’t afford before. I am not against luxury or ambition. I only believe those things should serve your life rather than replace it. Learn to appreciate quality, and to tell what you value from what you want only because someone else has it.

6. Progress is a system, not a miracle.
Someone will always promise a shortcut. People start from different places, markets are uncertain, and even good decisions can disappoint. But uncertainty is not a reason to stay passive. Better knowledge, better skills, tested ideas and learned mistakes slowly create more options. One article will not transform your life. The right ideas, applied repeatedly, can change its direction.

7. Design your own life.
A good life means different things to different people. Decide what matters to you, learn what it requires, review your progress and change course when reality demands it. Don’t confuse looking successful with being successful, and don’t postpone every good thing until some distant day when you feel you’ve earned it.

What you’ll find here

The site follows five stages, and every article belongs to one of them:

Some articles will help with practical decisions. Others will introduce unfamiliar possibilities or challenge what you believe. Not every idea will suit you, and not every opportunity is worth pursuing. Your task is to think critically, experiment carefully and keep what works for your circumstances.

You don’t have to change everything today. You have to begin, and then keep going.

Work with purpose. Earn with intelligence. Grow with intention. Live on your own terms.
